There is a secret Professor Layton game that not many people are aware about and it is “Layton’s Mystery Journey: Real World Puzzle Solving. Made in commemoration of Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy, this marketing tool is actually a game Layton game in its own right. Now, it’s not a game that too many people are even aware of but it features various of the things that make up a Layton game.

Available in a 3 month period, between June 20th 2017 to September 21st 2017; This Real Life Puzzle solving game was created between Level-5 and SCRAP for making Real Escape Games like Escape rooms and from various licenses including Dragon Ball Super and even Zelda with Defenders of the Triforce. What was the Ataribox & Can Atari make a comeback despite its history?

What was the Ataribox & Can Atari make a comeback despite its history?
Rampant Speculation

Atari teased that they were working on a new console apparently called the Ataribox but not much else was said. Many speculated how it would be able to compete with Sony and Microsoft while others thought it would be something akin to the NES CLassic from Nintendo. None of those seems quite likely though.

The history of Atari is a long and convoluted one. But to summarize it down the company has had various deaths over the years, from the first one in the video game crash, to the second one after the crash and it was divided up and sold as parts. So for many years we had Atari which was run by a French company called Infogrames that only used the name they had acquired from Hasbro

Captain N Character Profiles / Tribute

Captain N Character Profiles / Tribute
Looking back on..

I’m a huge fan of people going into digital worlds, so of course I’m a huge fan of Captain N, which I’ve talked about before. Hell I’m even a fan of the New Adventures of Captain S. So let’s have a small tribute to some of the characters that Captain N: The game master has to offer.

Heroes

Kevin Keene: A real life kid that gets zapped into Videoland through the Ultimate WarpZone! Now this was the late 80s and for the time his character isn’t terribly annoying, he isn’t a dumb rookie or too much of a boy scout which is good. He isn’t a terribly interesting character either though but you won’t mind him. His get up is awesome though with his Nintendo jacket, an NES controller as his belt buckle and a Zapper as a weapon.

Jurassic Park 2 //: Chaos Continues is the sequel Secret Movie
Secret Movie

We all wanted a new Jurassic Park movie after the original but it wouldn’t be until four years later that we got The Lost World which ended up being a whole lot different than what we expected the sequel to be. Luckily we did get the version we wanted to expected with Jurassic Park part 2 // : The Chaos Continues on the SNES released a year after the original movie.

“A year has passed. No one has set foot in Jurassic Park… until now. As Dr. Grant you’ll venture back to the island where more dinosaurs than you could ever imagine await your return – including terrifying new species you’ve never seen before! Only you have the power to send these prehistoric monsters back where they came from. Only you can close the doors on Jurassic Park… for another 65 million years!”

Monster Rancher Anime was better than Digimon

Monster Rancher Anime was better than Digimon
Looking back on..

Monster Rancher was a show I was never interested as a kid since I just saw it as an other Pokemon rip-off but one day I found a DVD for cheap and decided to check it out and realized the show was very different from what I imagined and kind of fun. Not only that but the games seemed very interesting with the whole discs into monsters gimmick. So how does the anime hold up many years after the Pokemon fad came went and returned? Let’s find out.

>

The anime is divided into two series, which each consists of a story arc. Series 1 is fun but very episodic in the beginning and only later it does it get going with the story. The show does reek of 90s anime dubs from the voices to the censoring and dialog in general. The show is nothing like Pokemon however and is a lot more like a generic quest that many animes have. You have the big bad and his 4 generals who are somewhat interesting and eventually of course they are defeated.

Captain N: The Game Master is the greatest nintendo cartoon

Captain N: The Game Master is the greatest nintendo cartoon
Looking back on..

While playing videogames Kevin gets zapped and travels to Videoland! He was chosen as the Gamemaster who must travel to different video games and save Videoland. I don’t know about you but the concept of this cartoon is awesome. I have vague memories of Captain N: The Game Master as a kid but not many since I was very young when it aired so it was mostly like watching the it for the first time for me since all I recognized was a little bit of the character models. Let’s not forget that Captain N is part of the Nintendo Animated Universe. So lets take a look at the show.

The show is from 1989 so its plagued with a lot of the stuff that makes 80s shows inferior to ones from say the 90s or 00s. That will probably tick off fans of 80s shows but its the truth even if I do enjoy some 80s animation. Its not a bad show but it really isn’t anything special either that I could recommend to any normal person. Its also hard to recommend to say all video game fans or fans of the franchises that are shown such as Castlevania or Mega Man since fans will no doubt be angry at the portrayal of the characters they like. But I really can’t blame the show too much, I mean this was during the time when videogames had very basic storylines not to mention artwork wasn’t stellar either so of course they took their own liberties, especially when being inspired by 8 bit models.
