SomethingAwful was a very popular site where a lot of the early internet memes and trends would start. The story begins by saying that I was a member at Serebii.net, one of the largest Pokemon communities and even if I wasn’t really a regular I would stop from time to time when there was a big Pokemon announcement. On one of these occasions I found a hilarious thread about being attracted to Pokemon.
Tonight I’ll talk about Adema’s first album which came out in 2001 right at the peak of nu-metal and this album is pretty much the epitome of nu-metal. I don’t mean it’s the best nu-metal album but it surely represents what the genre became better than any other album before or after. Riding off the fame of Korn the band was promoted as Jonathan Davis’ younger brother. A must for any angsty teens arsenal in the early 00’s.
The album starts with Everyone and with lyrics such as “life is a struggle” and “Why am I so angry inside my head?” you know you’ve got a good opener and I don’t know why I was so angry but this album surely helped.
Blow it away You could find this mislabeled as a Korn song in peer to peer programs, in fact that’s how I found it and this being the second song I liked from them I rushed to get their album, maybe that was part of their marketing and it worked on me at least.

So as I started with Marvel and DC but now let’s go over the other Cinematic Universes currently in development. As I mentioned before the concept of a Shared Universe is nothing new however it’s become popular thanks to the way Marvel Studios had hit after hit in their Cinematic Universe. I won’t look at the history of shared universes as that would likely mean going back to Homer’s The Iliad and Odyssey but we’ll at least give a brief glimpse as we see the new Cinematic Universes previous history in a shared Universe.

In the first part I talked about Marvel now let’s talk about DC and other plans for shared universes. While you can definitely see Warner Bros. going on a “me too” route in the movies it’s not as if the idea is that new, it just had never been implemented with superhero movies on film. If we go back it was indeed Marvel who started with the crossover of The Submariner and the original Human Torch (unrelated to the Fantastic four) but it was barely a few months later when DC had their own crossover and DC went big on their idea of a shared universe unlike Marvel and created the first Superhero team with the Justice Society who later evolved into the Justice League. Marvel started doing a bunch of original teams comics as Stan Lee has mentioned before and that’s why we have stuff like Fantastic Four, X-Men and whatnot instead of solo heroes at Marvel. Both companies have always put a lot of easter eggs for fans in all their shows and movies referencing to a larger DC/Marvel Universe but no one saw them as “references” or “hidden” secrets, they realized it was the company throwing a bone to the fans.

I have always liked continuity so shared universes or “cinematic universes” as they’re called now, heck I even made a post about a Marvel crossover movie back in 2005 before Marvel Studios was a thing and thought of the MCU or Iron Man had a movie and was known to the general audience.

I was about to begin my teenage years when I found Big Wolf on Campus airing which I’m sure I’ll talk about later but the opening/intro of the show really got to me. The lyrics are cheesy but I can’t help but like the song, especially how it begins with “I used to own this town..”, while a bit embarrassing I guess it just hit at the right time of my life as I made my own transition. Even now it’s as good as I remember. The quality above isn’t great, you can find the episodes with a better quality intro but I didn’t want to link to full episodes. It’s col how the “Fox Family” logo really adds to the video in nostalgia points.

So today unexpectedly they announced Super Mario Run coming out on iOS and later confirmed on Android shortly after. That’s something I certainly didn’t expect to see at the apple conference. It was weird hearing Miyamoto speak English for so long, he normally only says a few words. So let’s talk about it quickly with yays and nays. For a review of Super Mario Run it’s actually now available here.
