Ace The Duck is the Ninja Turtles Greatest Ally and will Rise with the TMNT

I love Ace Duck, after the turtles and Shredder he is the figure I wanted. He was always the turtles favorite ally when I played with them. I love his designs, now his design doesn’t really work for other incarnations of the turtles but fits perfectly in the Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. He isn’t a terrible character either, he could be made into something cool.

The original Fred Wolf cartoon didn’t use him because when the toy came out they were in that “no mutants” phase where we rarely got any mutants, so the fact that he got a cameo says a lot about his popularity at the time I think. When the show finally got around to doing mutants every other week, his toy was no longer sold so he lost his chance. Archie just did weird things with characters, I doubt they thought about ridiculing him, in fact they tried to use him somehow in their weird space storyline and it was the best they thought for him at the time. The Nick show making fun of him is well, Ace Duck is a product of its time it sounds silly on paper but he could be redesigned to fit the universe if they really tried, then again the Nick show has far more ridiculous things that them making fun of Ace Duck is like pot calling the kettle black.

Pokemon Go after the fad

Pokemon Go after the fad
Miscellaneous

It’s been a few years since Pokemon Go originally launched in 2016 so I’m definitely late in writing about this game that even Vince McMahon was playing and catching ghost Pokemon at the Gym. But while I quickly realized that Pokemon Go wasn’t for me when it came out I felt forced to play it once I knew Pokemon Let’s Go was going to allow trading from the mobile game and even before anything was announced I knew there would be exclusive stuff if you did and decided to start playing as soon as Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee were revealed.

I remember very well the announcement during the Pokemon 20 celebration that they even got a Superbowl ad for it to build hype to what would eventually become Pokemon Go. Once they showed what it was I was just not all that interested in some AR game and didn’t think much of it. Once it started being released and only a few people were playing it I decided to check it out and downloaded the APK and started the game. I could catch any of the starter Pokemon and of course I went with my turtle Squirtle and it was cute enough, walked around found another Pokemon and caught it. It had been fun and cute but I was done with the game and uninstalled it since I couldn’t see myself spending much more time on it.

Goosebumps has had quite a a few different books in their different series, compilations, special editions and what not. They tell you not to judge a book by its cover but in the case of Goosebumps it was the cover that completely sold the books to every kid. The stories were never actually all that scary but many of its creatures were as iconic as any other horror icons like Jason or Freddy. This is my little tribute to the Goosebumps franchise.

French Goosebumps: Chaire de poule Books & Goodies

French Goosebumps: Chaire de poule Books & Goodies
Miscellaneous

It’s October and the Halloween season is the perfect time to talk about Goosebumps, or Chaire de poule (literally chicken skin) as it’s known in francophone regions. And that’s exactly what I want to talk about the different editions that the French versions that this book series got in both France and in Quebec Canada.

The French Edition was published and translated by Bayard Poche and printed 74 books. The logo is mostly the same slime font only with the Chair de poule name while the covers are entirely different.

They are worse and nowhere near as iconic as the Tim Jacobus’ covers but they do succeed in looking far creepier and scarier that you’d expect them in another book series like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
