This week on Music Match, we’ll be doing something a little bit different and will feature songs related to Nintendo. I don’t really want this to become a thing but thought I’d do it today mainly because these songs were written before geek culture became cool and everyone and their mother wanted a piece of it. These songs have unique music videos and were written during a more innocent time of the internet. They’re great songs and not that easy to find and they really aren’t parodies either. Enjoy! Saint Dragon – Nintendo
I used to search for a lot of songs on Napster about Nintendo but you couldn’t really find soundtracks of games that easily back then but I was able to discover this little gem that I”m sure a lot of Nintendo fans did back then but not many know this exists anymore. This is also a fan made music video but it captured the feeling of the video and it really feels like it was made in 1999 just like the song likely was. The song is fantastic and a very nice tribute to Nintendo in general especially from the Nintendo 64 era. It’s really about a specific time of Nintendo and this song really does it.
Ffejery Plexco feat. Kip Beats – tendo LUV
For a bit of context Nintendo was seen as a has been company before the Wii released but it seemed like this new game system had some momentum so it was really refreshing to see this music video and awesome song. This was before geek culture became hip so they were different times. This is an official video and while nothing amazing it gets the job done and it’s nostalgic to watch. The song just feels you up inside with a good dose of nostalgia. This song also represents a specific time for Nintendo which was the love we had for the games and hoping they would reclaim their glory with the Wii, which they did. Popular song back in the myspace days but sadly forgotten over time.
The Rabbit Joint – The Legend of Zelda
In the early days of file sharing many of us were tricked into thinking that System of a Down had written a song about The Legend of Zelda. Luckily newer generations were able to have the same experience with mislabeled youtube videos. Perforemd by The Rabbit Joint and not SOAD. This isn’t the first time a zelda song makes it to MiscRave but this one is just as good as the lyrics are to the point but hit what Zelda is all about. This music video is fan made but it’s not unlike every other fanmade music video of this song, this one had far more effort put on it and original. I’m sure The Rabbit Joint would be proud.
