The original reboot of The Magic School Bus was announced in 2014 and shouldve come out two years later but it took almost a year and a half longer for it to come out. The show just kind of disappeared for a while as we reported when the show’s future seemed uncertain. But after the new reboot which is actually more of a revival since it’s a continuation of the original show came out with rather lackluster reviews. I wonder if maybe the original show would’ve been far better.
Last time we saw 3 different cartoons and their French openings. It’s interesting to see how the lyrics change and in some cases the songs, the familiarity or just because its of a franchise you enjoy make it interesting to check out. You’ll also find the lyrics below each video as well as a translation to the lyrics in case you want to follow along and practice your French.

Well I’ve been following this show closely for a year before it came out since the show seemed to have fallen off the radar without any news but finally we have a new Magic School Bus cartoon with Rides Again and it’s actually very different from the originally announced Magic School Bus 360 that was supposed to be in CG featuring new kids. I was extremely disappointed when I saw the trailer, but after watching all of the episodes that encompass the first and second seasons, how is it really?
The art-style is awful, makes me feel like I’m watching an expensive flash cartoon or a Dora show, in fact it feels like a those cheap revivals shows had in the 90s from older properties. I really wish they had gone with CG since the King Kong CG Netflix show they had while a bit boring had awesome CG. The show does look nice and clean at least but the character designs are so uninspiring and generic, I literally can’t tell any of the kids apart besides Arnold, and not because he is the exception but it’s easy to tell him apart because of his glasses, he also gets the most focus in the entire show.
I’ve written about the Magic School Bus a few times before but I’ve never talked about the actual show besides that it had an amazing theme song but now with a new show it seems right time to look back at the original cartoon.
Scholastic was a powerhouse back in the 90s and this TV show is one of the things that came out of it. Based on the children’s book where a freaky teacher teaches science through field trips using a magical bus that actually takes them to the source of the topic being taught so they can learn it through first hand experience. The bus’ transformations are pretty cool as it is to see them go all these places that it makes the edutainment part of the show fun.

We have a new Magic School Bus cartoon but what we never had was a live action movie. Thankfully the internet has got us covered in this respect so why don’t we take a look at some live action parodies of The Magic School Bus.
The first one we have is a few years old but easily the best one as it really was able to pack every reference in and bits of personality of each student into the short 2 minute trailer without it feeling forced. This is a movie I would stay up for the midnight showing and cosplay to while listening to the opening of the show.
