Disturbed’s The Sickness is the Perfect Soundtrack for Super Monkey Ball

Disturbed’s The Sickness is the Perfect Soundtrack for Super Monkey Ball
Listen back..

The nu-metal debut album for Disturbed back in 2000 was something special, it was heavy, dark and stood out with the rest of the nu-metal stuff coming out at the time. I don’t quite remember how I got this record but I was already a fan when I started to see commercials on TV for … Read More “Disturbed’s The Sickness is the Perfect Soundtrack for Super Monkey Ball” »

Music Match Halloween Music Videos Vol. 2

Music Match Halloween Music Videos Vol. 2
Music Match

For Halloween we need more music videos and while I sometimes choose spooky music videos or the closest I can get to be in the spirit of Halloween, this time I decided to choose a little more parody since it’s specifically monster themed to change things up a bit and be a better fit for Halloween.

Bumps Gonna Goose Ya! ft. Jack Black (Goosebumps Music Video)

With Jack Black of Tenacious D who also plays R.L. Stine in the goosebumps movies we have this song that is somehow something that might even be too cheesy for the 90s but that’s exactly what they were aiming for. The song lyrics tries to shill the movie as well as name drop as many book titles as it can in 3 minutes in this rap song. THe music video is some awesome low budget scene in a library with cheap costumes and Slappy (who also sings) mixed with a few scenes from the movie here and there. The whole package somehow sells this god awful song and video.

Three Horror Themed Music Videos: Music Match Vol. 16

Three Horror Themed Music Videos: Music Match Vol. 16
Music Match

It’s October and we need to check out some horror themed Music Videos so here have 3 especially selected horror themed Music Videos. There really isn’t a lot of selection at least of quality that you can when it comes to horror themed music videos, so here we have a fun mix of horror themed that may be cheesy and fun or even a great one sneaked in at the end.

Murderdolls – Dead In Hollywood

Anyone remember the murderdolls? They tried to be a thing and I completely dismissed them but I can see where I went wrong now. Not really the type of music I”d ever care for but what I saw as trying too hard is actually just them trying to be more fun and theatrical and I can’t blame them. The band had Wednesday 13, members of Static X and Slipknot to make this horror-punk genre a thing. The band goes from playing in a hospital since they’re vampires I guess to a tv studio taping for whatever reason. Lyrics like “Hey Frankenstein, I heard you SUCK!” is what makes this worth remembering today.

Superhero movies were a thing that wasn’t so frequent back in the day and we’d only get one every other year but still big enough that it got a lot of promotion because theyw ere still iconic characters. The Fall is here so why not listen to some Autumn esque superhero music videos based on superheroes which isn’t really done anymore and that’s a shame. Not that any of these superhero music videos have much to do with the heroes themselves but that’s what makes them so much fun.

Stone Sour – Bother

Corey Taylor from Slipknot made his unmasked debut with this song that was promoting Spider-Man, most people were shocked and angry at the decision to do this “mainstream” project than more Slipknot and him taking his mask off than the Marvel connection but I’d argue that’s the biggest WTF moment with this decision. The song is an ok radio edit of a radio friendly song that besides some iffy lyrics isn’t so bad at all but the best part is that it has absolutely nothing to do with Spider-Man, not even random scenes from the movie as the only connection to the movie is that he wears a Spider-Man ring that is focused on plenty of times during the video which takes you off the mood of the video which shows a copy of Corey Taylor aging rapidly until he dies and becomes dust only to leave his spiderman ring which the young Corey Taylor puts on encompassing his own Spider-Man ring. Music from and inspired from Spider-Man? Exactly how?

Music Match Tomb Raider Music Videos ft Korn, U2, K.Flay

Since it’s the time of being in a Tomb Raider mood let’s take a look at the 3 songs that had music videos to promote the 3 different movies that somehow none of them really represent Tomb Raider or Lara Croft very well. Three very different songs and their link to the movie and franchise they’re promoting is well let’s just take a look at them.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – U2 Music Video – Elevation (2001)

U2 recorded the song used to promote the first movie with Angelina Jolie and Bono really legitimized this video game character as something that could be a hit. The song is something that U2 would do and it’s a good song catchy radio friendly song even if not my style. The video is pretty cool wit the band playing in the city and random things flying from explosions as they “elevate” or float in the wild with plenty of slow motion made popular by The Matrix. The music video really has nothing to do with Tomb Raider and besides showing clips of the movie which sort of explains why the things are flying everywhere I guess. They couldn’t even get Angelina Jolie for the music video as the only scene where she’s in is from a body double just showing her back walking with the band.

Linkin Park Meteora is a second Hybrid Theory

Linkin Park Meteora is a second Hybrid Theory
Listen back..

By the time Meteora came out it had been 3 years since I had outgrown Linkin Park and had a more “refined” taste in music and I couldn’t listen to this casual shit anymore, and yet I was curious about the release…why? I don’t know maybe because Hybrid Theory made me into a metal head and was my first favorite band not to mention got me into music as my newest passion and gone were the days of being a “hardcore” gamer. I remember finding fake Meteora songs on p2p napster clones and I finally got to listen to their first single and I eventually got to listen to the whole cd after it came out…and well it was more Linkin Park like the first album, I didn’t hate it, I thought it was good but it was also something I had outgrown and was now into other bands. A long time has passed since then and I think it’s time to listen back to Linkin Park’s Meteora.

Because of the World Cup we’ll have a special edition Music Match where we’ll look at 3 different music videos from the official themes the world cup has had over the decades. Having to listen to every single theme made me realize that there really aren’t many good themes and music videos only appeared in the last few decades. There seems to be more than one official song for each world cup also, some a little more to do with the country itself while others just random. In the same way the lyrics can be very related or only vaguely. Also worth noting that most themes seem to be in Spanish or have some sort of Spanish word at the very least, but enough of that and let’s get to the 3 best music video songs that the World Cup has had to offer.

Adelén – Olé

A Norwegian singer brought this song for the World Cup in Brazil, I have to admit I dont’ remember this song ever playing but I do like that it incorporates th flags of various countries and shows off a little of Brazil while still keeping it a bit generic. The song is not the catchiest but it isn’t bad by any means and the music video really does a fine job making you feel excited about the fact that it’s a world event.

We begin with
