Todd McFarlane’s Spawn HBO is all you’d want from an Animated movie

Spawn was huge and counting how big he was, his movie and how well the figures were selling in the 90s it’s odd that it didn’t get a cartoon like other lesser known indie comics like Ultraforce did. But we did get an animated show on HBO simply called Todd McFarlane’s Spawn aimed at an adults and taking those two factors into play it’s no wonder a lot of us didn’t even know this show existed so let’s take a look back at the show that is as good as Batman: The Animated Series.

The show only lasted 18 episodes spread across three 6 episode seasons and yet it did more in its first season than most shows do in their entire run. The show is dark, and not only in tone but also in colors and that helps the bleak mood the show is aiming for really well. The origin of the hero is told perfectly and the supporting characters are all usually great. I mean who doesn’t love Sam and Twitch, two awesome fictional detectives in an already crowded space.

Vampirella 1996 Live Action Movie is mostly ok

Looking back on..

Vampirella is one of those characters that I recognize without question event though I know absolutely nothing about her, I’m surprised with how iconic she is that we’ve never gotten some type of animated film, I mean even Lady Death had one. But when I realized that she got a movie in 1996 I had to check it out, bad reviews or low budget weren’t going to stop me from checking out some type of media based off this character. I think Halloween is the best time to check this out and see what this is all a bout.

Now as I mentioned I’m not familiar with any Vampirella lore or continuity since I just thought she was just a sexualized character for posters with no actual background. But here she is apparently an avenging alien some type of Vampire aliens from another planet called Drakulon and after Ella’s father is killed she goes to Earth to find the killers which include Vlad who is Dracula himself. So yeah plot is not going to be its strong point based on this setup but I definitely didn’t expect Vampirella to have the best origin so yeah I can easily ignore that.

Original Batman Live Action Quadrology 4 films in continuty gothic vs neon

Looking back on..

The four Batman films from the 90s even though I guess technically the first one was released in 1989 all share a continuity, now most people like to draw a difference between the Tim Burton films and the Joe Schumacher films and while there are definitely differences between them three is no denying that the four films are meant to take place in the same universe and are not as tonally different as people like to believe so let’s take a look back at them.

Too bad there is no easy way to tell this saga apart and since fans divide the films as mentioned above it hasn’t helped the situation. We’ve seen box sets of the films called as the Legacy collection and also the Anthology so I guess that’s the best we have unless we want to call it a quadriology or tetralogy. The movies do go nicely together when they use the logos to differentiate each movie as each one has a very iconic batman shield for that movie.
