Living under a rock I didn’t really know what 50 Shades of Grey was, I just knew it was something popular with girls. I went on a first date with a girl and at the cinema she decides we should watch it. Color me shocked when I started to see what the movie was all about, as she started to act embarrased as the intense scenes happened. I never bought that acting as if she didn’t know what the movie was about but I still failed to capitalize on what the date might’ve meant further solidifying my Boy Scout training as clueless.
I finally watched the 3 movies and well it’s kind of difficult to write a lot about it. Fifty Shades of Grey is not a bad erotic film for women although as a manly man (boyscout) I think I’d rather just watch Godzilla instead. The erotic and sexy scenes are handled rather ell and the ending is liberating enough. Fifty Shades Darker ont he other hand messes thigns up and feels a story stretched out. Like a long conclusion made by a fanfic writer. Which I guess this whole thing started as Twilight fanfiction so I guess there’s a reason for it.
The second movie in general is a downgrade and even gets rid of a lot of fanservice nudity to hide the fact that it’s not a great film.. I guess neat decisions on jealousy and how fucked up Gray is. Weird movie. Fifty Shades Free feels even more unecessary, perhaps if both plots of the sequels were one movie it might’ve fared better. The plot of being evil feels very fanficcy if that’s even a word. There’s more causal nudity even if not of the sex kind, depravation is still on the downgrade but I guess they upped the ante with real life danger with now a real life creep in their life. Overall The movies feel more like a generic romantic story with nudity.
It’s a weird 50 Grey Trilogy , and I guess in the end ANa is indeed submissive, happy second movie and third movie with random danger. Ending with a baby is an odd way to go. I don’t know why men in general were so obsessed with making fun of women liking this, I mean as much as I ragged on it, if it’s their equivalent of Sucker Punch then more power to them. With that said it’s rather difficult to find good screencaps for this movie, not to say that there’s much in the movies that feel like iconic scenes.
At least they found ways to merchandise the movie with official lingerie of the franchise, that’s at least something. Apparently based off the book descriptions I’m guessing since I don’t remember seeing that in the movie, hell finding a picture of Dakota JOhnson in lingerie from the movie didn’t even work the one I found was from a different movie. I feel they kind of forgot the movie they were trying to make.
50s hades
I’d rate the trilogy as a huge miss, the first movie at least works better stand alone. They needed more sex to captivate the audience and controversy, instead it’s just a generic movie trying to act like it’s tough. It’s almost like those horror movies that when they don’t provide fan service it’s even more evident how lackluster the story really is. You really need more gimmicks to keep things interesting if your plot is not the best. Not quite something for me, so I guess I’ll watch Twilight now.
