It seems Netflix has a thing for virtual reality and I’m all in since I love what the technology could do and a big fan of the digital world trope. I had no idea what Kiss Me First was but I assumed it was something not for me. For some reason I read the synopsis for some reason and it seemed right up my alley since it dealt with VR, games and whatnot. I was cautious at first since I didn’t quite know what to expect but I was surprised as this show is nothing what you would expect since it mixes many different ideas and somehow it actually works and it didn’t affect the show at all.

Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad was an Ameritoku show released to cash-in on the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers craze. It used footage from Denkou Choujin Gridman and just like Power Rangers took out the Japanese actors and replaced them with American ones. But was this rip-off show any good?
The show deals with viruses entering electronic devices and causing trouble because the evil Kilokahn wants to control not only the digital but the real world. He uses a hacker to make virus programs to attack important infrastructure in the real world. To save the world you have the cast of Saved by the Bell, or at least somewhat similar who find a way to get into the digital world and fight these monsters with a program called Gridman that grants Sam superpowers. So you have Saved by the bell style plots with giant monster fights inside electronics along the ride.

Kevin rose created a site called Digg which to describe I guess you can say it was a smaller Reddit but that was the beauty of it since it started as a small community that became huge. But that’s not the biggest part, Digg was the first of its kind with the user voted content, at least in the way that it did it and there was nothing like it before and it revolutionized all future sites like Reddit.
Sadly after a few years the community became too big to handle and any decisions they made would eventually piss off someone whether the new users or the older users and whatnot. People started leaving in droves to Reddit but I remained loyal for as long as I could but even I eventually left. Not long after the site was sold and completely changed, apparently its different but good again. I still remember my first article that made the front page and I always wanted that Digg 1337 t-shirt but never did. Sadly Reddit has never been able to emulate the best years of Digg but we do have this one song to remember the old days, the song “Gotta Digg” by Kina Grannis.
Hard to believe it’s been ten years but it was Macworld 2007 and Apple had been teasing that they were going to make an announcement that would be revolutionary. By this point the iphone had been rumored and making the round in various sites and constantly making the front page of Digg. So why don’t we take a look back and see this impressive keynote Steve Jobs gave a decade ago.
As rumors started popping up about Apple making a cell phone I remember not being impressed as I had no need of an ipod and a phone in one as I already had both and it wasn’t a problem at all since phones with internet weren’t something new exactly either. While I didn’t get the appeal of it at first that quickly changed throughout the year as hackers started putting different programs which became known as “apps”, that’s right the first iphone didn’t have the app store, that launched one year later but that was the time I saw that this was a game changer and I was in line once the second iphone released. But let’s take a look at the presentation that changed the world.
