VR Troopers were the best Power Rangers of Virtual Reality

VR Troopers were the best Power Rangers of Virtual Reality
Looking back on..

What happens when you take the Power Rangers formula but instead of using one show for footage of monster battles, you take two unrelated shows? What you get is VR Troopers. With all the craze around Virtual Reality now, why not take a look at a show that was inspired by the 90s Virtual Reality craze from that time. This is no Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad when it comes to tech references but here is a review and random observations of VR Troopers.

I never saw really saw VR Troopers as a kid besides an episode or two and with no nostalgia, so it made it kinda hard to watch. I’m not sure if the show does get better or if it somehow grew on me even though it was bad because I don’t think season two is necessarily better; A lot of the Space Sheriff Shaider stuff in season two I did not enjoy. Season 1’s problem is at times the plot was hard to understand, you knew the basic plot but besides that it just seemed like random fight footage was thrown everywhere that made no sense. As a kid I just dismissed it as PR rip off but I can see why some people have fond memories of it now.

Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad is the best Gridman

Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad is the best Gridman
Looking back on..

Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad was an Ameritoku show released to cash-in on the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers craze. It used footage from Denkou Choujin Gridman and just like Power Rangers took out the Japanese actors and replaced them with American ones. But was this rip-off show any good?

The show deals with viruses entering electronic devices and causing trouble because the evil Kilokahn wants to control not only the digital but the real world. He uses a hacker to make virus programs to attack important infrastructure in the real world. To save the world you have the cast of Saved by the Bell, or at least somewhat similar who find a way to get into the digital world and fight these monsters with a program called Gridman that grants Sam superpowers. So you have Saved by the bell style plots with giant monster fights inside electronics along the ride.

Dinosaur Project Baby: Secret of the lost legend Mokele-mbembe Movies
Looking back on..

Mokèlé-mbèmbé the Cryptoid Loch Ness Monster from Africa that is supposed to exist is not that famous but has always made my imagination run wild. I was able to find two movies that dealt with this creature from the Congo that were released nearly 30 years apart but not quite like a clean release gap like with Dinosaur Island. So let’s take a quick look at them and see if they’re worth your time if you want some dinosaur movie action.

Dinosaur Island 2014 & 1994 Same Title Two Decades, 2 Different Movies
Looking back on..

We have two movies called Dinosaur Island and they were released exactly 20 years apart, both were lower budget films with a limited release but since there really aren’t that many dinosaur movies out there, let’s take a look at how they are and if either of them is worth watching and just how much those two decades changed brought us two very different films.

Godzilla: The Series Characters Profiles and discussion
Looking back on..

We saw took a look back at Godzilla: The Series and Godzilla 1998 and like other film to animated sequels there are some changes with the characters and they don’t usually look like their actor counterparts to save some money. So let’s take a look at some of the characters the show had to offer.

Godzilla (Zilla) Jr.: Since the Godzilla was killed in the film (and later revived in the show) they had to bring in a new Godzilla and it’s easily explained by having one of the baby Zilla eggs survive, which is actually a cliffhanger ending the movie had and the show resolves. Nick goes to check that there aren’t any eggs left and finds this one egg hatching, the baby Godzilla thinks Nick is his mother and a loving relationship is formed.

Godzilla: The Series the 1998 Sequel

Godzilla: The Series the 1998 Sequel
Looking back on..

Godzilla (1998) may have been a movie that everyone hated but it had a short lived animated series is remembered fondly by those who watched it I loved it as well since it continued from the movie which I had enjoyed and it was a Godzilla cartoon which is something I always wanted and the Hanna-Barbera cartoon didn’t fulfil.

The show had a decent run of 40 episodes, and it always got good ratings which is saying something since it was out during the time Pokemon and all the networks had similar shows to compete against. The show begins exactly where the movie ends, in fact the first episode shows the ending of the movie in animated form and that’s actually really cool.

Captain N Character Profiles / Tribute

Captain N Character Profiles / Tribute
Looking back on..

I’m a huge fan of people going into digital worlds, so of course I’m a huge fan of Captain N, which I’ve talked about before. Hell I’m even a fan of the New Adventures of Captain S. So let’s have a small tribute to some of the characters that Captain N: The game master has to offer.

Heroes

Kevin Keene: A real life kid that gets zapped into Videoland through the Ultimate WarpZone! Now this was the late 80s and for the time his character isn’t terribly annoying, he isn’t a dumb rookie or too much of a boy scout which is good. He isn’t a terribly interesting character either though but you won’t mind him. His get up is awesome though with his Nintendo jacket, an NES controller as his belt buckle and a Zapper as a weapon.
