Twilight Saga and I’m #TeamJacob

People forget how popular Twilight was at one point, and more people forget how irrational men especially over the internet were over girls having a movie to themselves. The hate on the franchise was perplexing, people would get angry just because women enjoyed the movies and crapped on them as if superhero movies were that much better. I remember watching the first movie out of curiousity at this time and thinking it was good, and thinking the same for the sequel. It was nothing special but why so much bile being thrown at it? Funny how some people can get over such simple things. So Insecure. While it’s getting a big re-release I decided to watch the entire saga for the first time and well It’s ok, it has its good moments and its meh moments.

Twilight:
Over all this is a pretty solid movie, it tells a simple story and succeeds at it. It also happens to have my favorite superhero / superman moment on film. When Edward saves Bella in the parking lot. The cinematography is nice, I liked the gothic look, the scenery, the mystery works. I like the music, even the lore they start to build is interesting and I want to hear more. The villains work for the story and get set up properly. Perhaps a bit long but that’s my only complain. Alicia Cullens is also my gal. I find the shiny Vampire trope fun.

New Moon:
I’m a #TeamJacob kind of guy and I like Jacob getting the focus. He’s an interesting character and the the native american wolf lore works really well. The Edward drama works to further the plot in a good way and so many sequels get this wrong. This sequel gets it so right what other franchises never do. I loved the huge wolves, they’re intimidating and fun overall. The music selection is decent and it takes you back to that poppy punk from that era. The lore keeps being built upon in a good way and building an antagonist. Bella is just such a btch to Jacob. Decent ending with a good escalation.
music selection is dcent though you can see that its indeed girl poppy fromt hat era.

Eclipse:
What a silly idea to continue the story but at the same time kind of fun to see. This one is not the worst movie in the franchise so far. The second half of the movie gets a lot more intersting by actually having some plot, though i think it’s the weakest movie so far. There just isn’t enough tension between the involved parties which is what made the last movie fun to watch. Edward is too much of a “I’m a nice person” and it’s hard to like him for it and Bella is so stupid . It makes you mad at her for just playing with the feelings of people.

Breaking Dawn:
So they divided into two movies becausse of money I’m guessing and there weren’t many other books to adapt…or perhaps the plot is too much but I doubted that.

Part 1: The wedding feels a bit too much of a girl movie to me, but I guess it is the target audience. In a way it finally feals more like and closer to 50 shades of grey. We don’t start well off since the drama is an alien fast growing vampire baby. It really jumps to a rather dumb plot point I guess ideas were a bit scarce at this point. It’s a shame it’s it’s just a messed up movie and ideas in general. It feels like a show that ran for too long and is just doing something to stretch the plot.

Part 2: Here we have the better movie of the two, not that it’s great by any means but it’s stupid fun & nothing seriously good. I don’t need more it’s a fun movie. Jacob imprinting on the daughter is messed up so it’s really entertainng even if not fully utilized. I would’ve enjoyed more drama there than the freak baby of the last movie. The Valtori fight was needed and while we get a fake out finish, at least we got that..it was neat seeing it play out with some stakes somehow before we got the “good ending”, in a way we get best of both worlds.

Overall The Twilight Saga is OK. I might not ever watch it again but it has a solid first movie. and the ideas after that are just hit or miss on the sequels. I think they should’ve leaned more on the love triangle drama. Not having Jacob be such a simp and use the lore a bit better since it’s indeed interesting. It has some dumb parts but why were men throwing a tantrum like babies? How embarrasing.
