I always loved anthropomorphic christmas trees so when I realized there was an animated movie of one I just had to watch it and little did I realize there was another one. My deep research lead me to realize there were 3 Anthropomorphic Christmas Tree movies released all in the 90s. There’s also a bonus section of 2 extra cartoon films about christmas trees also from the 90s even if those didn’t have a talking tree.

The Real Story of O Christmas Tree 1992
24 mins which makes this a good length for the story it’s telling. We get some nice Xmas lroe as King Winter brings winter to earth. A christmas tree decides to stand up to the north wind created by him and not lose its leaves. This tree becomes a rebel for being the one pine that doesn’t want to. A human acorn and a pinecone knome go to rescue the tree who has been imprissoned and is being guarded by polar bears. Santa Claus himself goes to help save them which is also howthe tree gets the origins for the christmas lights. It’s a good origin movie for such a lame plot. King Winer ends up liking the christmas tree, we get the classic oh christmas tree song. Piney and all his descendants will be green all year long.

Christopher the christmas tree 1993

24 mins and we don’t get the classic O Christmas Tree song but one about Christopher the sad tree song, He wanted to spend Xmas with someone. Nobody wanted to choose him because he’s small and ugly. S they chop up the other pine trees. Then you have Hootie the owl that also leaves his house in shame for not knowing how to fly. They dance and play games with animals. Hootie ends up flying to save Christopher when he thinks he’ll be chopped up for wood. Chris becomes the president’s Christmas Tree. He is also named Christopher because of Christopher Colombus and Jesus Christ. Man what a dark ending, Hootie asks him if he isn’t sad it’ll be his first and last christmas since he’ll die since he’s chopped up and he says “no i was happy ot have been a christmas tree, you should help other trees grow so they can be christmas trees”.

O’ Christmas Tree 1999

A shy pine tree that wants to find her Christmas spirit with the help of some animal friends. The narrator is a anthropomorphic talking christmas tree star. A squirrel explains to a pine tree what it’s like to be a xmas tree, a bear goes explaining why he wants to see xmas. And they plan to make the pine tree a christmas tree as they meet up more animals to help and a tinman. It starts getting ornaments and make him little by little with stuff they find in the forest to make a xmas tree. Santa finds the tree and grants his wish to get it to be a real xmas tree since the power of the tinsel ornament and the animals all gathered with love. The slightly better plot made the 49 mins watchable

Honorable mentions:

The christmas tree 1991
In an Orphanage, kids suffer with no toys, their only friend is Mrs Hopewell the magical tree who would bring them a mom and dad. The director wants to ruin christmas despite Mrs Kindle who came earlier wanted to make it special for them because reasons. At 40 some minutes it’s so boring. Eventually struck by lightning the tree begins to die but, Santa appears when it’s going to be chopped down by the headtress and it gets Xmas lights from santa and it’s now saved. Children live happy and they get bulk adopted, this is not a joke.

O’ Christmas Tree 1994
Two polar bears want a christmas tree they fight for the christmas tree and figure out they aren’t happy with the chrismtas tree by itself its better when they share it. Almost feels like a Cartoon Network Cartoon Cartoon pilot. It’s decent and at 22 mins or so it’s fine for what it is.

Animation in general is poor for all of these, and the stories are also really basic. They all have a similar idea and I think there’s room to flesh them out a bit more. Didn’t love any of them but I wouldn’t say any of them are truly horrible, perhaps all shoudl’ve been just 20 minute range. If I had to rank them O Christmas Tree 1999 > O Christmas Tree 1992 > Christopher the Christmas Tree 1993 and the other two O Christmas Tree 1994 > The Christmas Tree 1991
