It’s back to school time and what better way to return to your classes than with some Nintendo gear to show your loyalty. It’s now easier than ever to get Nintendo licensed stuff in the last few years since the licensing got loosened in the mid 2010s and easier now after the Super Mario Bros movie boom. Before that the only other time it was easy to get Nintendo school supplies was during the 80s. Nevertheless I tried to find a anachronistic list of school supplies for a time traveller Luigi Kawasaki to take to Elementary this year.
We begin with a Purple Misty Backpack, this might seem like I would get made fun of for in the 90s but it’s just me paying tribute to my waifu. I mean it has Game Boy pouch with a game screenshot that makes up for the flimsly quality. I know because I bought this after the Pokemon fad died for under a dollar at a KB Toys one summer.
My school made us take Binders for the most part but had I gotten the chance to buy these notebooks I would’ve gotten every different variation. I would’ve chosen Peach or some other character I disliked for classes like Math. Ironically that would’ve made me use those notebooks more than others. The little stickers would’ve entertained me so much during that school year.
Luckily now you can find all the supplies you might need all sealed up in a small bag you can go ahead and take. I’m guessing in the past it would’ve just included a ruler an eraser and something else. Important to guard these with your life or else they’ll just be stolen through out the school year.
We can’t end without taking a lunch box. I can’t say I used one for too long, it seemed to be more of a relic that died in the 90s. But I would totally take one nowadays. I have to admit this Mario Zelda two for one Nintendo Power lunchbox is so cool that it almost makes me wish I had been alive in that era to be able to take it to school.
I was not able to find the game boy backpack I wanted to show off so there’ll be a future anachronistic school supplies post in the future. I thought of including a game boy color or some nintendo handheld since they were in a way part of the school supplies but decided to keep them off and keep it a bit more “pure”.
