Lost Forgotten Swimsuits of Anime

Swimsuits and anime go hand to hand like peanut butter and jelly, so much that it’s a little too easy to find examples. For this years Swimsuit special we decided to go a bit specific to make it more interesting in our finds. We are going for forgotten one piece swimsuits in anime, whether because it was an exclusive filler for the anime that was not really featured in the source material in some way or another.

Maron from Dragon Ball Z

DBZ;s anime gave us an original filler arc with an original blue haired character not named Bulma. While the Garlic Jr. Saga is not very well liked, who can forget Krilling’s girlfriend that was so influential that he named his first daughter with Android 18 after her. Maron knew what she was doing when she flaunted her body and used it for attention but at the same time she wasn’t truly such a bad person on the inside.

Princess Leona: Dragon Quest Adventure of Dai

Princess Leona on the Adventure of Dai after a couple of adventures goes shopping for outfits and tries a bunch of them on. This includes outfits that reference different ones from the Dragon Quest games. While she wears a bikini in the manga, she does try on a one-piece bathing suit exclusively in the original anime adaptation, making it an exclusive reference to that version only.

Pokemon Professor Ivy

The orange islands is one of the greatest arcs the Pokemon anime had for various reasons. A filler arc since it isn’t adapting anything of the game, it oddly gave us a bunch of stuff that would later be in future games, this includes the first female professor. Professor Ivy first shows up wearing a very unique one piece bikini that only early Pokemon could’ve given us.

Miho Nosaka Yu-Gi-Oh

A filler character who was not really part of the main cast in the manga but Miho Nosaka was a part it in the original Yu-Gi-Oh anime before Duel Monsters, often labeled Season 0 by fans. So any scenes with her are automatically filler and of course she did get to wear a one piece bathing suit during the run.

Ayeka Masaki from Tenchi Muyo

Another princess to the list, Ayaka Masaki went to the hot springs as any anime should do at some point in their run. While she might’ve taken a bath naked in the original OVAs, when Tenchi Muyo aired on Toonami, she actually featured a brand new digital one piece swimsuit to go along. An exclusive and now forgotten swimwear Ayaka has famously worn.

As a bonus each of the franchises chosen here have a relation to the previous one and closes the loop. Dragon Ball / Quest connection because of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Quest had some early monster catching before Pokemon. Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon’s were promoted together back in the day, Tenchi & Yu-Gi-Oh both aired on TV Tokyo and later Toonami which is where DBZ first got its big break in the US. With this we finish yet another Swimsuit Summer Special.
