I always thought the Darkstalkers franchise looked awesome and it was something to check out. I never did play any of the games but those character designs really appealed to me as a kid. I’ve only ever played as characters in Marvel vs Capcom as I think most have counting that Capcom doesn’t seem to care about the franchise besides the few iconic characters. While the franchise seems to have been left in the attic it did have some notoriety since it didn’t get one animated interpretation but two; An Anime comprised of a 4 episode OVA and a 13 episode western cartoon of all things, so let’s rave it up and look back at these shows.
As a kid I was able to watch a lot of anime that many people didn’t have the access to, one of those was Kishin Dōji Zenki. I used to love this show so I was really looking forward to checking it out again and so I did. For a relatively unknown franchise that doesn’t seem to get a lot of love, it really isn’t that difficult to find the episodes online. But this show seems to have been a big thing, spawning two different anime arcs albeit relatively short ones and shown in different countries, an OVA the manga of course and even a few Super Famicom games, so it was at least relatively popular to receive all of those mentioned. But how did it really fare upon a re-watch?
The basic premise of the show is that some super duper evil is using these seeds to conquer the world after being awaken. In order to get rid of this threat the descendant of the person who originally got rid of them Cherry or “” is now in charge of doing it. She does this thanks to the guardian that is a demon who is trapped in a child’s body so he won’t be able turn on her master. Only Cherry can break the seal and give the demon guardian his body back in which he is able to combat the evil forces threatening the world. It’s definitely a unique premise but you also need a plot

It was San Diego Comic Con 2014 and Legendary said they had one more movie to show, many people though it would be a teaser for Jurassic World but instead it was for a new King Kong prequel titled Skull Island. Many were disappointed including myself as I wanted any type of Jurassic Park news which was going to release in a year while this movie was scheduled for 2 years later in 2016. So out of the gate the new movie started with a bad word of mouth as people expected many things including a Pacific Rim sequel.
Since Legendary had the rights to Godzilla many had speculated if perhaps a new Godzilla VS King Kong would be possible and Legendary listened to the bad press and what they wanted. Eventually the movie was postponed and re-scheduled for 2017 and it no longer had Universal involved with Warner Bros replacing them to make the Godzilla crossover happen and reboot King Kong with the Skull Island movie instead of it being a prequel. I may have mixed opinions about Godzilla fighting King Kong again but it’ll be something awesome to see, nevertheless if the original plan had gone through we could’ve gotten something quite awesome.

After Saban hit it big with Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers he decided that if there were going to be tons of copycats competing with him, it might as well be him. That’s the reason we got shows from Saban like VR Troopers, Big Bad Beetleborgs among others but there was only one that was an official spin-off that was set in the same world and continuity of the Power Rangers and that’s Masked Rider.
