Godzilla Minus Zero Minus One, Minus Color Minus Collection

I took a look at Godzilla MInus One comparing it to Shin Godzilla as both were modern takes on the original 1954 Gojira. Since Minus One became a series of movies, this is the space for this modern reboot. While the first movie felt like it did not need a sequel, if either this or Shin was going to get it, I’m happy it was Minus. Shin works better alone.

Since I already talked about Minus One I’ll spice things up by talking about a version I had not seen which is Minus One C. This is basically the same movie but without any color. It wasn’t just made monochrome and the crew actually went over the whole movie to make sure it looked right and making appropriate adjustments where needed. It’s clearly not a movie that was made this way but yet it feels like it really is, and it does make the movie hit different in so many scenes. IF anything it’s only the faster scenes that show that it’s not an old movie. I’m sure he looks more menacing.

As far as the actual movie. it does its Godzilla scenes well, the human story is also well done, more personal. It’s not my preferred take. It takes a bit away from the story of Godzilla as it doesn’t revolve around him. And they do handle Gojira well, but while the story is about redeeming yourself, it almost feels like a separate thing with Gojira only being there to move the plot around. Only later does the plot seem to focus on Godzilla. It’s a good movie.

Godzilla Minus Zero is a good title for a sequel. I didn’t have the biggest expectations but I couldn’t pass up an imax pre screening on Godzilla day. This movie delivered in everything. It gives us a haunting look at the aftermath of not only Godzilla’s fist attack but also the atomic bombings of Japan. The characters are all excellent and do feel as part of the Godzilla story. King Ghidora was also handled extremely well. I always wanted a sequel to give, in fact it might be the best sequel to the origins. It delivers on so many aspects, It is also much better than Minus one.

I believe we’re just seeing the beginning of the Minus franchise. Minus Zero clearly gives us an ending that can be expanded in any future movie. The potential it has is limitless, I welcome more Minus movies. Though I fear they might not be as good as the second entry or even the first. But so far this might be the most solid era for Gojira .Let’s see where it goes.
