Today marks the 10th anniversary of MiscRave going live, and I thought I’d go over a couple of fun facts about the website as well as a guide to help understand certain aspects of the site to celebrate. This site unlike other platforms I might stumble my way into, I have complete control over and it will always reflect htat. Happy Birthday to this small personal nook on the internet.
Life has changed, and with it so has the site, as its name implies Miscellaneous Rave is meant to be a site about any and everything that I’d like to rave about, It is often updated with geekier content since it’s what I usually want to write about, but it is not limited to it and will branch into anything. Also, if you take into account previous versions of my sites you could argue we are actually on our 27th year (some articles might reflect their original online publishing date before the 2016 launch. But we’ve taken a look at both the history and content of the site before.
I’ll talk briefly about some of our traditions, some might be more apparent than others. I like to divide posts in different themes. For example depending the month of the year what I write about. There are also other themes that can sometimes overlap and have what I love to do which is double themes. Some of the themes I announce but others are more subtle and I just don’t. But in general, if you think some articles dates are related to something or two things or even 3 things going on at the site then you might be right. Usually one article leads to the next in some subtle way or to the monthly/yearly themes.
Every month/season includes a new Rave Girl to accompany us, usually themed to the current theme we’re oging through. They are in a way a mascot of our site, alongside the other unnoficial mascot which is a Brachiosaurus. While this site is mostly about paying tribute to things I love,t here are plenty of things I absolutely love that I have never or barely mentioned at all, ironically enough. It’s just the way things have gone but there are some things I love that just don’t make it to the site for various reasons but one day they will.
Let’s finish off with some random statistics and milestones for the site, we reach people from all around the world . 1,000+ articles, averaging 60 articles per year with the inaugural year having an article every day. We’ve had podcasts for a total of over 100 episodes. It has gone through 3 different looks and we’re not starting our fourth one. Here’s to another 10 years.
