Stacy Carter aka The Kat or as she debuted Miss Kitty from the WWF gets a shrine tribute here at MiscRave. She was a female wrestler or I guess Diva or whatever you might’ve called her from the world wrestling federation before it was WWE. She was heavily promoted and known for flashing the cameras on more than one occation. There doesn’t seemt o be much out there since she was only out there for a short time, and wasn’t exactly popular with marks or wrestlers. There are a lot of stories out there, but to me, she was the crush of my kid self.
I tried to find as much info about The Kat as well as watch as many matches and or storylines to get an idea of what her time on the WWF was like. I won’t go into excessive detail on any story line, controversy or anything and just have a fun brush through her brief stint in the WWE. She deubuted along Debra as an assistant sort of role and eventually just stayed with Jeff Jarret and once he left she was left hanging so Chyna adopted her. At first she seemed to be mimicking like a more docile version of debra. Once she was with Chyna they went more of a slave S&M type of role or something.
I can’t say that was her best look but she kept it for a while before branching off and just doing different wigs every other appearance. This felt more like her as she didn’t need Chyna. At the time the women’s championship did not have a lot of value sadly so she did win it which was likely a mistake but I do like that she had that title for a short while. No matter what she’ll forever be WWE Women’s Champion.
Counting she had no wrestling skills other female wrestlers were not a fan, she was likely seen as the worst of the valets. SHe defintiely didn’t have the skills but she could be entertaining. To her defense I found a few matches were she practiced some moves she was taught by other wrestlers at Jerry Lawler’s indie promotion. So At least you can say she did try to learn some moves, but as she said she was not that and only did it because she was asked to. You aren’t the wife of a pro-wrestler without learning a few moves here and there.
Of course she was married to Jerry the King Lawler which was always very creepy, even my kid self found that to be the case. She was fired and Jerry left with her, there seems to be no official reason except perhaps that she was hard to work with but in general they left a storyline inconclusive and a bad move all around. Photos of her without clothes appeared online not much later and they were taken by Jerry himself. Yeah so that happened.
Who knows if she cheated on who or not, I don’t think it really matters in the end. She was entertaining, the right it for the attitude era and yeah if her role was showing puppies and being sexy well she did her job as she was paid to do. I think she deserves more credit and I”m glad that she seems to remember her time fondly in the WWF, no hard feelings or anything.
I can’t say I know where I was going with this article to be honest. She’s from a different era so she’ll never be promoted or talked about, so I guess this little article can be found by someone who vaguely remembers The Kat and wants to find out just a bit more. Nothing more nothing less, just a fun small part of the attitude era that shouldn’t be ignored.
