We had a special Music Match School edition when I was finishing college, now that I’m finishing my masters degree, it’s only appropriate to have a post graduate Music Match collection of music videos. We’ll be taking a look at 3 songs that either deal with school or are somehow about school. I’d actually consider this a stronger selection than last time. Get your mortarboard ready.
Deftones back to school
We see Chino wake up on a teenagers bed with censored walls so it looks pixelated like in a game but that’s not what they were going for. Then he is at a school where he seems so out of place, what’s this old man doing at school? The school at the very least looks more like a school than the average music video, well at least some parts of it. Perhaps the most cringe music video, but a great song. They didn’t mind showing the cheerleaders in the dressing room. I think I actually like this music video the best, so ridiculous having their performance there.
Vitamin C Graduation Friends Forever
Apparently Vitamin C’s most famous song, you have her dressed up in a very 90s outfit as she sings in school where she seems very out of place. This is because she was in her 30s, so a bit difficult to fit in, not that any of the extras seemed like teenagers. You get plenty of stereotypical school imagery in the music video and the hair dye that if Vitamin C was a color, it’d be that one. I never realized this was one of her songs. I guess the video is about a girl wanting to speak to her crush and she finally does and then school is out forever. But hey the lyrics of the song say that they’re frinds forever, is she just going to friend zone him?
Marilyn Manson – Lunchbox
I think we’re going back to Elementary with this one? You have a more Marilyn Manson and the spooky kids style music video with the band performing on a skating rink. The song is about hitting bullies with your metal lunch box. These are some highly helpful lyrics for kdis if you ask me. The video transitions to a kid who has the angst of a teenager and decides he wants to go all out and swing that lunch box until the bully is knocked out cold. I don’t know we don’t really see any of that, just some skaters falling down, could those be the bullies? Doesn’t seem so, maybe the kid jsut killed them and it was deemed too violent to show.

With that we say goodbye to School one last second time, at least until the PhD finishes.
