Dinosaurs were the coolest thing in the 90s, so it seemed everyone wanted to make a video game featuring dinos and we got them. With that in mind, it’s weird certain franchises never got to have their video gmae when they were relevant. let’s dive down to an alternate world where some Dinosaur franchises should’ve and could’ve gotten a video game.
This looks like the box Art for hte NES you’d see in a video rental store, and not Blockbuster but one of those mom and pop stores.. You knew the movie, you also didn’t understand how it could be a game because of that. You’d wonder what it was even about, but it’s not something you’d ever actually get to play or see what it was about and it’ll always be in your mind thinking about it.

Carnosaur is an underrated movie series, that while not the best, it’s a fun little monster movie series. The original also has an iconic fight with a T-Rex with some type of construction crane. This seems like it would’ve been made into some type of early FPS PC Game with grainy graphics or a FMV game on Sega CD. It missed its only point in history it could’ve been relevant which would’ve been in 1994/1995.
Denver the last dinosaur was a relatively popular show in the 80s that it would’ve been reasonable to have seen a video game on the NES released. Probably some NES hard platformer that would’ve included an 8 bit version of the theme song being played in every level counting it’s the most interesting thing in the show.
If Dino Riders had made it big or been released a couple of years later in the mid 90s, I can see how it would’ve gotten a real time strategy game on PC. It would’ve been amazing. Sadly, it was not meant to be. Here we have a more Advance Wars looking concept which also looks amazing.
With how big Dinosaurs was for a while, I’m surprised we didn’t get some CG rendered 2D platformer on the SNES. I’m imagining something like The Flintstones movie game.. But with the Sinclair family instead, most likely controlling Earl. If Disney made games for stuff like Bonkers, I don’t see why this didn’t happen or shouldn’t have happened.
Most of thes games would’ve ranged from mediocre to awful but I still would’ve liked to have seen them existing. There were opportunities and dinosaurs sold well. We got plenty of dinosaur games like Dinosaur City, but some things were just not meant to happen. I left out some obvious pics like Barney the Dinosaur and The Land before time because they did get some video games even if not really well known.
