In the summer of 2000 Star Wars held its first fan film awards and the winner of it was the Star Wars Gangsta Rap. This was before youtube was a thing your battle station needed to have the equipment to play .swf files so you could enjoy this classic from Atom Films. I must’ve watched this hundreds of times, I almost feel bad for my parents. If you’ve never watched it then you owe it to yourself to watch it:
Trying to re-create the original buzz Atom released a “Special Edition” version of the original Star Wars Gangsta Rap in 2004. The audio is exactly the same but the Star Wars Gangsta Rap Special edition featured brand new flash animation and like the real special editions they just aren’t as good as the original. The Flash animation is no longer amateurish looking but completely professional, that actually works against it as that was part of the charm of the original. Then again it could’ve just been that I watched the original so many times anything different just looks odd, go ahead and compare them yourself: Continue reading Star Wars Gangsta Rap→
You may be in the mood for a new Star Wars story to watch while waiting for the annual Star Wars movie so why not check out the sequel to The Force Unleashed which you need to see before this “movie”. Like the original this sequel is made from the Playstation 3 and 360 game cutscenes and some gameplay to make the FMV make sense but this being a sequel to a story that seemed to have a definite end,c an it be worth watching? Secret movie is all about finding more content for you to indulge on when you’re hyped so what do you do when you’ve already exhausted your marathons of the Star Wars episodes? Why not find some new content to watch in this case The Force Unleashed which was a video game that tells the story of a Darth Vader’s secret apprentice in a story set between Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV A New Hope. What we have here is all the cutscenes put together with some gameplay to make it a “movie” and this was in the PS3 / Xbox 360 era which makes this CG “film” actually tell a decent story which had a sequel. As I’ve mentioned a few times I have a problem with the Star Wars spin-offs and it being annualized. But I enjoyed a lot of things about the film even if there are too many “Why?”s for me to actually say I liked it. As much as I did not like The Force Awakens I think Episode VII is a better movie even if this movie has far less things that annoy me if that makes any sense. Going in I had accidentally read a few spoilers but of stuff I already knew or suspected was going to happen so it didn’t affect me a lot. Continue reading Looking back on.. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story→
The first Star Wars spin-off Rouge one may have has us a movie about getting the plans of the death star, but before Disney bought Lucasfilm this is something we had already known about, the status of these events are now uncertain but I’m sure there won’t be that many conflicts on them or at last none that can’t be explained away somehow. But it’s interesting to take a look at these early looks of how the events were explained and in “movie” form because these are the cutscenes / FMV of the games where these events took place so here we take a look at these two Star Wars “movies” you never saw.
Even before Disney ever owned Star Wars they had a section of their park dedicated to it and they would perform various fun movie inspired skits. This time for Rogue One they used Epcot’s Spaceship Earth and with some clever lights they turend it into the Death Star to coincide with the spin-off film Rogue One which I talked about here. It works out pretty well and it’s a fun watch.
