I miss the the World Trade Center, the twin towers just looked good on the background of movies, tv shows and well video games. It reminds us of simpler times. It’s soothing, comfy and relaxing. I was surprised by how many video games had them so I decided to choose some of my favorites. It’s not meant to be a full list, just some of my most interesting ones to me.

I’ll begin with the twin towers appearing in a Nintendo Video Game, and although they do appear in Rhythm Heaven as well as a cameo, it’s not meant to be as important of a background asset as it is in Cruis’n World. It’s featured in both the Arcade and Nintendo 64 versions. You race away but they’re there to remind you of the location that you are racing in.

Parasite Eve features the Twin Towers a lot which makes sense since the story does take place in New York City. It’s both featured prominently in advetisement CG and also in the game. It really added that “oh it’s so reallistic’ kind of look back in the day.

The buildings just make a great backgroudn in general, especially for something like fighting games. King of Fighters 98 in the USA stage, which has both a morning and night version features them. I think they did a good job at it in both versions though I do prefer the night. I am not a big KoF fan but this easily made the list.

We finish off with Rampage the game, and it is featured in both World Tour and Universal Tour. In the first one it is just in the background and you can’t interact with them but you can easily tell them apart. In the sequel you can actually go and do well what Kaijus do which it’s just as the movie Independence Day showed us, something we like to see happen in fiction. I guess technically they might also be in the original arcade game but that’s debatable.

For as many games as its featured in since the beginning of video games up until well they were gone, I still feel we could’ve had them a bit more. There are a few more I would’ve liked to have included like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs but they weren’t as good and preferred to keep it a short but sweet take. Life changed but we can always remember how things used to be.
