Out of all the sitcoms on the Disney Channel in the early 2000s, my favorite was always Smart Guy. Yes, better than Lizzie Mcguire, Even Stevens and the like. It’s a hugely underrated show and even rewatching it now still provides plenty of entertainment. Here is a little tribute to this show as I show it praises.

I love very actor in the show, they all play very specific roles and they fit them very well. the humor just really hits, I don’t usually laugh out loud like I have in this show. You of course have some tropey characters:

Marcus: The older Brother, selfish but a good guy even if dumb and selfish. He has a good heart and knows he’s dumb but is responsible when he has to be.
TJ: The smartass younger brother, not exactly likeable or the most interesting character though he does make the others get into situations which brings their best qualities. His innocent but truthful responses are always funny.

Yvette: The sister, kinda obnoxious but in a good way. I have a crush on her. I really like that she doesn’t stick to one personality, she’s complex and can change from the voice of reason to just outright selfish depending on the situation.
Floyd: The father, nothing too special about him but he does a good job in being the role model, he jokes with them and knows what’s best for his family.
Mo: The dumb friend but awesome, he’s far more liekable than the usual dumb character since he’s normal dumb.

some other characters
Mackey: White guy, fun, he’s a bully in one episode but after that he’s just the clueless acquaintance. At first he wasn’t used very well but they found his niche later on.
Deane: Fun guy, used a little better this way.
Teachers and Principals are fun characters. – I preferred the original black principal over the tamer white one. Coach Gerber was always perfection. Wish we had seen more of him.

Season 3 had a worse theme, and in general felt different, soem storeis were a bit wackier, it did feel it was running out of ideas. Seccual humor, so it finished at the right time. Graduation day episode is a good finale episode, clearly setting up a S4 with Yvete still living in the house but the life of the show was limited, I don’t mind that it finished. Overall I like how the family is not perfect but they take turns teaching each other lessons.
